65 Years of Trusted Pet Boarding & Grooming in St. Louis Area!

Nancy Crane’s Family Pet Care is Proud to Celebrate 65 years of Trusted Pet Care Service to the St. Louis Area.

Since 1960, Nancy Crane’s Family Pet Care has proudly served the High Ridge and greater St. Louis community as a trusted provider of professional dog & cat boarding and grooming. Built on compassion, integrity, and responsibility, our mission has never changed: To care for pets as family, serve people with integrity, and provide meaningful value to our community.

As we celebrate our 65th anniversary during the United States Quincentennial, we reflect on our roots, our purpose, and our commitment to future generations of pets and families throughout Jefferson County and the St. Louis region.

Rooted in St. Louis Pet Boarding & Grooming History

When Nancy Crane’s Family Pet Care first opened its doors in the early 1960s, professional pet boarding and grooming services in St. Louis were rare. Families often relied on neighbors, farms, or informal kennels when traveling. Grooming was minimal and boarding focused primarily on containment, not comfort.

We believed pets deserved better. From the beginning, our goal was to provide safe, clean, compassionate, and structured care, treating every pet as a valued family member, not a number.

Our story mirrors the evolution of pet care in St. Louis itself- A 65-Year Timeline of Boarding & Grooming Excellence in St. Louis:

We believe grooming is a vital part of responsible pet ownership and long-term wellness.

Our Grooming Philosophy:

  • Maintain healthy skin and coat
  • Professional nail trimming and ear care
  • Gentle handling for puppies, anxious or senior pets
  • Familiar groomers who know our pet personally
  • Health-focused grooming that complements boarding stays

Pet Boarding That Feels Like Home- Never a Hotel

One belief has guided us for over six decades:

Our facility should always feel like a home, never a hotel.

Your pet is not a reservation number or a kennel assignment. They are a guest in our care.

What “Home-Like Boarding” Means:

  • Familiar faces and gentle handling
  • Individual attention for each pet
  • Calm surroundings over overstimulation
  • Respect for each pet’s temperament, routine, and needs
  • Clean, secure, well-maintained environments

We intentionally avoid overcrowding and chaos. Our focus is comfort, safety, and
emotional well-being. We do provide individualized care for feeding, exercise, and
socialization through various optional programs with our boarding service.
